Duran Duran are to release a new album in September 2015 after signing a recording contract with Warner Bros Records.

It will be the 14th studio album to come from the Birmingham rock legends who shot to fame in the Eighties.

The album has been produced by Mark Ronson, Mr Hudson and Nile Rodgers, who recently plugged the record at his gig in Birmingham.

In an interview with the Birmingham Mail, Rodgers said he was excited about the new album.

He added: “The record sounds funky and amazing and I’m really thrilled. It’s killin’, killin’ killin’.”

The team is a familiar one for Duran Duran, with Ronson producing their last studio album All You Need Is Now in 2010 and Rodgers producing their multi-platinum album Notorious in 1986.

Bassist John Taylor said: “We could not be happier to be making this deal with Warner Bros, and are looking forward to working on our forthcoming album release with not only their US team but also everyone else within the Warner family around the world.

“We are also excited that this deal means we will be reunited with our catalogue after years apart – and in that sense it really feels a little like coming home.”

The album will feature guest appearances from Janelle Monáe, Kiesza and former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante.

Warner Bros. Records President Dan McCarroll said: “All of us at WBR are looking forward to working with Simon, Nick, John and Roger as they begin this exciting new chapter.”

Duran Duran have sold more than 100 million records worldwide.
